Classes in New Braunfels

Valerie now teaches dance classes for both the Comal ISD Community Education program and the New Braunfels ISD Community Education program at various schools in New Braunfels. These classes are offered from 7-9pm on weeknights during the school year, with a Spring series of classes from February - May, and a fall series from September - December.

CISD and NBISD set their own rates, which are dependent on the number of weeks per session. These classes are offered to couples only, but singles may contact Valerie directly for assistance in finding a partner.
$85/couple for 6-week sessions,
$75/couple for 5-week sessions,
$65/couple for 4-week sessions,
$55/couple for 3-week sessions.

Beginning level classes are open to everyone -- no prior dance experience is required or expected. We will teach you everything you need to know about the rhythm and character of the particular dance, the music and the footwork, and then some interesting patterns!

All Intermediate level classes require that you have taken Valerie's Beginning level class first. Every instructor has their own system of teaching, so even if you already have some basic dance knowledge, you should start again at the beginning to become familiar with the methods and terminology of each new teacher. Besides, it never hurts to review the basics!

TUESDAYS in New Braunfels (register through Comal ISD; classes meet at ACMECHS):

Jan 31 - March 6 (6 weeks): Beginning C&W Two Step.
May 1 - May 15th (3 weeks): Intermediate C&W Two Step (Must take Beginner class first.)

WEDNESDAYS in New Braunfels (register through New Braunfels ISD; classes meet at Lamar Primary School):

Feb 1st - Feb 29 (5 weeks): Beginning Salsa & Cha-Cha
March 7 - Apr 11 (5 weeks): Beginning C&W Two Step (No classes the week of Spring Break.)
April 18 - May 16 (5 weeks): Beginning East Coast Swing / Jitterbug.

THURSDAYS in New Braunfels (register through Comal ISD; classes meet at ACMECHS):

Feb 2nd - March 1 (5 weeks): Beginning East Coast Swing / Jitterbug.
March 8th - April 12 (5 weeks): Intermediate East Coast Swing / Jitterbug (Must take Beginner class first. No classes the week of Spring Break.)
Apr 19th - May 17 (5 weeks): Beginning Ballroom - this will include Foxtrot, Waltz and Tango.

LOCATION for New Braunfels ISD classes: we meet at Lamar Primary School, 240 North Central Avenue.

LOCATION for Comal ISD classes: we meet in the building called "Alamo Colleges Memorial Early College High School", at 1419 North Business IH 35. This is a new building on the north side of the road, behind a 6-tree windbreak. We meet in the cafeteria, 1/2 way down the right-hand hallway. DO NOT BELIEVE WHAT YOU GET WHEN YOU GOOGLE FOR DIRECTIONS - THEY ARE WRONG!!! MapQuest / GPS directions will send you across town. Follow these directions instead:

From San Antonio, drive north on IH-35, take exit 189 (this is also the exit for Hwy 46 to Seguin), turn left under the freeway, then turn right at the traffic light for Elliott Knox Blvd / Business 35. Drive past Churchill Middle School, their track field, and one more building on your left. ACMECHS is the 2nd building on the left, just before the 6-tree windbreak.

From San Marcos, drive south on IH-35, take exit 190-A, turn right at the stop sign onto Business 35, and look for the trees about 1/2 mile on your right.

Private lessons in New Braunfels cost $50/hour (may be split among 1-5 people) and can be arranged to fit our busy schedules, by contacting Valerie directly by phone or email (see Contact Us).
