Line Dance Classes in New Braunfels

Line Dance classes for Seniors are taught by Valerie at the Westside Community Center on the southbound access road of IH-35 at Exit 185. Sponsored by the New Braunfels Public Library, the classes are free. No registration is required. No previous dance experience is needed, just the desire to join us for some great exercise with a fun group of people! We meet Thursday mornings from 9:30-11:00am. Classes are ongoing throughout the year, except for city and national holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, etc.

Group Classes in New Braunfels

Valerie teaches dance classes for the Comal ISD Community Education program on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7-9pm during the school year, with a Spring series of classes from February through May, and a fall series from September through November.

All Beginning level classes are open to everyone -- no prior dance experience is required or expected. We will teach you everything you need to know about the rhythm and character of the particular dance, the music and the footwork, and then some interesting patterns!

All Intermediate level classes require that you have taken Valerie's Beginning level class first. Even if you already have some basic dance knowledge, you should start again at the beginning to become familiar with my methods and terminology. Besides, it never hurts to review the basics! And you will meet more dance companions.

To register for the Comal ISD classes, call their Community Ed office at 830-221-2116. 5-week sessions cost $90/couple ($50/single).

Location for Comal ISD classes: we meet in the cafeteria of the ACMECHS building "Alamo Colleges Memorial Early College High School", at 1419 North Business IH 35, about 1/2 mile east of Church Hill Middle School on Loop 337. If the class enrollment is large, class will be moved next door to the gym of Goodwin Frazer Elementary school. The gym is at the back of the school, reached by entering the Student Drop Off drive and following the Buses Only sign.

GOOGLE DIRECTIONS ARE WRONG!!! Follow these directions instead:

From San Antonio, drive north on IH-35, take exit 189 (this is also the exit for Hwy 46 to Seguin), turn left under the freeway, then turn right at the traffic light for Elliot Knox Blvd / Business 35. Drive past Church Hill Middle School, their track field, and one more building on your left. ACMECHS is the 2nd building on the left, just before the 6-tree windbreak.

From San Marcos, drive south on IH-35, take exit 190-A, turn right at the stop sign onto Business 35, and look for the trees about 1/2 mile on your right. ACHMECHS is just past Goodwin Frazier Elementary School.

You don't have to be taking a current dance class to be welcome, the door is open to all! BYOB; sometimes we have snacks to share. We ask for a small donation to cover the rent and A/C costs.

PERIODIC Dances are usually held on a Saturday from 7-10pm at UMC Wesley Chapel, 510 N. Guadalupe in San Marcos, 78666. This is the building directly across from the bus stop at the edge of Texas State U's campus (Woods Street). Cover is $5; potluck snacks (if you bring something, don't forget to take home any leftovers!). Next Dances: to be announced.
