San Marcos Class Schedule

Starting in March of 2010, Valerie will be teaching dance classes, co-sponsored by the City of San Marcos Parks and Recreation Department, at their Activity Center located at 501 East Hopkins Street. Classes will meet on Saturdays from 4-6pm in Aerobics Room #2. Classes will run on a monthly (4 week) basis, costing $40 / single, $70 / couple.

Directions to the Activity Center from Austin: take Hwy 35 south to San Marcos, exit #205, which appears to be leading you to Luling or Wimblerey, but is actually the exit for Hopkins Street. Turn right at the intersection. About 1/4 mile further on, Hopkins curves past some railroad tracks. The Activity Center will be on your right, just after the US Army Post and the Public Library.

March 6 - 27th: Advanced C&W: this class will pick up where the Austin Monday night classes left off: reviewing our sequential patterns such as the Neckwrap Rollout, the Sweetheart Swingaround, or the Beltran to Whirlybird, and converting them to Triple Two Step once we have a solid grasp of the pattern in Regular Two Step. Each month will have a specific focus, and we will always review the foundation moves needed before building to the more complex sequences. We will rotate partners throughout the lessons, helping us all to learn faster, to retain the material better, and to make new friends among our classmates, which will double our dancing pleasure!

April 3 - 24th no classes in San Marcos, because of too many schedule conflicts (Easter, Fiesta, etc).

May 1 - 22ndAdvanced C&W continues. The focus this month will be syncopated patterns. Please note that we will not have classes over the Memorial Day weekend, May 28-31.

June 5 - 25thAdvanced C&W continues. This month's focus will be "the dark side of the moon" patterns. No classes over the July 4th Holiday weekend, July 2-4.

July 10 - 31stAdvanced C&W continues. Pretzel variations will keep us busy in July!

August 7 - 28thAdvanced C&W continues. Focus of August classes TBA.
